About

Constructing a Sustainable Future is an international media platform fully dedicated to sustainable construction. It is part of the Sustainable Construction Observatory launched by Saint-Gobain.

Mission

We contribute to raising awareness and improving understanding of sustainable construction by highlighting innovative solutions, showcasing exemplary projects carried out in diverse contexts around the world, and giving voice to those who are advancing practices across the sector.

Who is it for?

We address all stakeholders involved in the value chain of sustainable construction projects worldwide: architects, contractors, developers, engineers, real estate players, educators, urban planners, local elected officials, and stakeholders from finance and insurance, among others.

We position ourselves between expertise and accessibility: while sustainable construction is a topic for specialists, it must reach as many stakeholders as possible to accelerate its adoption worldwide.

Our Content

We produce a range of formats: Deep Dives, Interviews, Inspiring Projects, Slideshows, Infographics, Podcasts, Videos, and Thematic Reports.

Six languages are available: English and French, as well as German, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin through audio translations.

Topics are diverse, exploring throughout the year the different dimensions of sustainable construction:

A monthly Newsletter

Already distributed to more than 60,000 subscribers worldwide, our monthly selection of articles provides a quick overview of recently published topics.

For our subscribers, we also share reports and event updates from our network committed to transforming construction practices, along with useful information on how to take part in the Sustainable Construction Talks of the Sustainable Construction Observatory.

An Annual Edition

The release of our themed annual edition each year provides an opportunity to shed light on key strategic challenges in sustainable construction. It is distributed in print to our network and made available to a wider audience in flipbook format.

Editorial Approach

Our editorial line, led by a pool of specialized journalists and experts in sustainability and construction, can be summed up in three words:

Open, rigorous, and pragmatic.

Open, by giving a voice to a broad range of experts working in architecture firms, construction companies, real estate organizations, institutions, international bodies, and public authorities, among others.

Rigorous, by selecting projects and solutions that are significantly moving the needle and having a tangible impact on practices: product innovations (e.g., chemistry), solutions designed for different market segments (e.g., infrastructure, buildings), exemplary collaborations (e.g., between public and private sectors, between startups and established players), as well as legislative and financial frameworks.

Pragmatic, by recognizing meaningful progress in sustainable construction while remaining clear-eyed about the efforts still required. The information we share is verified by our journalists and experts and aims to reflect on-the-ground realities as accurately as possible.

Editorial Collaborations and Partnerships

Thanks to the Sustainable Construction Observatory’s extensive network, we draw, when relevant, on the expertise of recognized organizations such as Arup, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and also Aon

Constructing a Sustainable Future positions itself as a media partner for major sustainability and construction events, such as Climate Week NYC 2025.
